Rounded Beds 1
Sometimes, sedimentary rocks get weathered by wind and water in a way that makes the original layering less obvious. The sharply defined beds that you see in a piece like Shale 18 become more subtle: still there to be seen, but less sharp, with the weathering effects more prominent.
Rounded Beds 1 and 2 show this nicely, at two different scales. They’re both based on the same original pattern, but Rounded Beds 2 has been shrunk by about a third. The bedding and rounding patterns are found at all different sizes in the real world, so choosing one or the other is a matter of what scale you’re modeling in, and how much detail you want to include.
If you’re modeling the red desert sandstones of the desert Southwest, these may be the rocks for you! Rounded Beds 1 is 30 inches long by 7 inches tall.
